Wednesday Jun 07, 2023
Making decisions in today's digital age can be a real challenge. With the internet, AI, a never-ending stream of information, and everyone’s advice and opinions, it's tough to figure out what's truly best for ourselves.
So how do we choose what’s important for us? In this episode, I'm here to demystify the decision-making process and make it a breeze for you. I'll share four essential truths that will help you cut through the noise and choose what truly matters to you.
This topic stems from a recent speaking engagement at Bay Scholars' Spring Speaker Series. I had the pleasure of talking to their bright scholars about the importance of identifying priorities. By knowing what truly matters to them, they can make informed decisions as they navigate their educational journey.
So, let's dive in and uncover the secrets to making decisions that align with your goals, priorities, and values!

What does it mean to be creative? How do we access that creative energy within us? In today's episode, Nicole Ralston and I dive into this topic from different perspectives. We touch upon how perfectionism limits our ability to be creative, how creativity is a skill and energy that everyone has access to, the tendency to tie our self-worth to the things we create, the different ways we can utilize the skill of creativity in any aspect of life, and how tapping into our creative energy is like a spiritual practice.
Nicole Ralston (@nicoleralston_) is a stationery designer, business coach for creative entrepreneurs, and a mom of 2 little rascals. Overcoming the fear of failure as an Asian American Woman
Wednesday May 24, 2023
Wednesday May 24, 2023
Let’s talk about the fear of failure. How do you experience failure? What is it about failure that you fear? Why is it “taboo” in the Asian culture to “avoid talking about failure”? These are some of the questions I ponder about this concept of failure and the fear of failure.
In today’s episode, I dive into my own experience of failure, the cultural narratives around failure in the Asian American community and its impact on me, and my perspective on overcoming the fear of failure from what I’ve learned over the years.
I hope today’s topic helps you reframe how you view and experience failure as an individual and Asian American person (if you identify as an AAPI person).

Connecting to our unique design through Color Analysis with Kim Bass
Wednesday May 17, 2023
Wednesday May 17, 2023
Have you heard of color analysis? In today's episode, Kim Bass shares how color analysis and styling help shift how we feel and see ourselves and reconnect us to loving our natural design and how we were created. Our conversation also dives into how color analysis and styling have helped us belong to ourselves and offer ourselves self-acceptance as an AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) person.
Kim grew up in the Bay Area and still lives there to this day with her husband of 14 years and their two kids. She worked in HR for a couple of tech companies before becoming a full-time SAHM. After 10 years of being a homemaker, she went back to the workforce in 2021 and joined a virtual color analysis business called Created Colorful, where she manages the blog content for the company.

Welcome to our last episode during Teacher Appreciation Week to celebrate and honor you, the teacher and educator who is making the biggest impact on our future generation.
In today's episode, Rachel Bacosa and I chat about how tending to our social-emotional needs, modeling it, and including our students in that practice build you and your students' self-awareness and self-management skills.
Rachel’s #1 passion in education is to serve educators! You will find her having soulful, reflective conversations, helping an educator identify, first and foremost, what is going well in their classroom. Rachel is a strengths-based educational coach who builds from strengths and creates training and tools to help teachers develop their SEL awareness and self-management skills.
Rachel has served fifteen years in education as an elementary teacher, teacher mentor to teacher candidates at SJSU, & an instructional and programmatic coach for Social-Emotional and Culturally Sustaining Learning in the Pre-8 grade school district.
When she is not coaching at the district office, she creates and leads professional development as a consultant with the Center for Reaching and Teaching the Whole Child (CRTWC). With CRTWC, she partners with a small but mighty team of 4 who have made it their goal to embed a framework that focuses on Social-Emotional and Cultural Anchors and Teacher Moves into Teacher Prep programs in the United States. Rachel has been a consultant with the CRTWC for over 10 years and has co-presented in northern and southern CA conferences.
When Rachel is not strengthening systems toward building resilient teachers and students in the Pre-K-8th grade school district system or for teacher prep programs at the university level, you will find her out in nature hiking or writing in her journal, and most of the time spending quality time outdoors with family and friends, and enjoying human being.
Educational change starts with how we care for our teachers! If you want to make systemic change where students are socially-emotionally and culturally responsive, you need to meet the needs of our teachers with that same goal. Start with what teachers are doing well and see them light up! It is all about building from strengths, not weaknesses. https://crtwc.org
